Broil these flavorful cheesy crabmeat appetizers flavored by mayonnaise and Worcestershire sauce topped upon French bread.

Ingredients

  • 24 (3/4-inch) slices French bread baguette
  • 1 (5-oz.) jar sharp pasteurized process cheese spread
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
  • 6 tablespoons margarine or butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 (6-oz.) can crabmeat, drained

Instructions

    Arrange bread slices in single layer on ungreased cookie sheet. Broil 4 to 6 inches from heat for 1 to 2 minutes or until lightly browned on 1 side. Remove from broiler. Turn slices over; cool completely.

    Meanwhile, in medium bowl, combine all remaining ingredients except crabmeat; mix until well blended and smooth. Stir in crabmeat.

    Spread mixture on untoasted sides of bread, covering completely. Leaving slices on cookie sheet, freeze at least 30 minutes or until firm.

    Cut slices in half crosswise; separately slightly. Broil frozen appetizers 4 to 6 inches from heat for 3 to 4 minutes or until puffed, bubbly and lightly browned.
