Dark Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

This is the easiest and tastiest way to make chocolate-dipped strawberries, and it requires just three ingredients total. These are perfect for a special occasion, but simple enough for weeknight dessert or even an afternoon snack.

Dark Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

Ingredients

  • 1 container (16 oz) fresh strawberries with leaves
  • 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon shortening or vegetable oil

Instructions

    Line large cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper.

    Gently rinse strawberries; dry on paper towels (berries must be completely dry).

    In small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips and shortening uncovered on High 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and smooth.

    Dip lower three-fourths of each strawberry into chocolate mixture; allow excess to drip off into bowl. Place on cookie sheet.

    Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until chocolate is set. Store covered in refrigerator.
