    Heat oven to 350°F. Place cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased large cookie sheets.

    Bake 10 to 14 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool on cookie sheet 2 minutes; remove to cooling rack to cool completely.

    Measure 1/3 cup frosting into each of 3 small bowls. Tint 1 green and 1 red with food colors to desired colors; leave remaining bowl white. Spread about 2 teaspoons of any color (red, green or white) onto each cookie. Lightly sprinkle with sparkling sugar.

    Using photo as a guide, pipe cookie icing to make light strands, and add gumdrop pieces to make lights. Let stand until set, about 30 minutes.

    Use gel food colors rather than liquid food colors for this recipe so as not to thin the frosting too much. Find gel next to the liquid food colors in the baking aisle at the grocery store.

    Lightly spray knife blade with cooking spray before cutting gumdrops to keep them from sticking to the blade.

    When decorating, place gumdrop pieces cut side down so the sugared sides appear to "sparkle" like lights.
