It’s the perfect dish to fuel your family for busy weekdays or to savor during relaxed weekend mornings.

Ingredients for Your Biscuit Breakfast Casserole

Gather these fresh, high-quality ingredients to make a casserole that’s as flavorful as it is easy to prepare:

Main Ingredients

Eggs: Whisked and full of protein, these are essential to holding all the ingredients together.

Pork Sausage: Adds a hearty and filling meat with a peppery and smoky flavor.

Bacon: This additional breakfast meat adds a savory, smoky crunch.

Sharp Cheddar Cheese: Melts beautifully for that irresistible gooey factor.

Diced Potatoes: A tender, starchy base that adds comforting texture. We recommend using a 20oz bag of refrigerated diced potatoes with chopped onions.

Half-and-Half: This overnight dish is made far richer with the addition of half and half to add flavor and a binding quality to the dish.

Green Onions: Also called spring onions, or scallions, these provide a nice and light addition of color and onion flavor. These are easy to omit or increase as you desire.

Optional Add-Ins

Vegetables: Add to your personal preference; diced bell peppers, onions, baby spinach, or mushrooms for flavor and nutritional value.

How To Make A Breakfast Biscuit Casserole

This overnight quick to bake biscuit casserole is a cinch to whip up the night before quickly and easily. The detailed instructions can be found in the recipe, but here are the general steps for preparing your breakfast casserole.

Prepare the Dough:

You’ll want to use a 13x9-inch backing dish and spray it generously with your cooking spray of choice. Using a can of Pillsbury Grands Southern Homestyle Buttermilk Biscuits, separate the dough into the 8 provided pieces. Cut the dough in half 4 times, this will turn each biscuit into 8 equally sized chunks. Take the pieces and arrange them across the bottom of your prepared baking dish.

Add the Ingredients:

Next, you’ll want to sprinkle the non-liquid ingredients on top. Take your diced potatoes, precooked sausage, fully cooked bacon, green onions, and cheddar cheese and put them over your biscuit chunks. Have fun with this step, mix them in a bowl for a thorough combination, or spread them around willy-nilly!

Mix and Add Liquid Ingredients:

In large bowl, beat the 8 eggs and half-and-half with salt and pepper with a whisk until they are well blended. Pour evenly over biscuit mixture in baking dish.

Wait, then Bake:

Cover your dish and refrigerate at least 8 hours or overnight. The next morning pre-heat your oven to 350°F and uncover the baking dish. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup cheese. Bake 48 to 53 minutes or until the center is fully set and the edges are deep golden brown. Let the breakfast casserole stand for about 15 minutes before serving. Top with more green onions if you’d like a fresh green garnish!

Don’t feel like waiting the full 8 hours? We promise the flavors come together even better with time, but you can bake straight away if you’re getting hungry while you assemble. You’ll still bake it at 350°F, but it might take less time than the chilled overnight version. At the 40-minute mark begin checking for signs that the center is set and the edges have begun to brown. Add more time as needed until it’s cooked through.
